Leadership theories and styles

Democratic leader:

This is also known as the participative leadership style in where the leader allows the opinions of the other members hold weight in the decision making process. Through this leadership style the team can brainstorm further ideas that maybe the leader had not thought of. This is one of the most equality based styles of leadership, but also the leader remains to hold the final say it allows participation, brain-storming, and voices to be heard.

Autocratic leader:

This is where the leader holds all of the cards and will not hear all opinions on the matters at hand. This tends to be less encouraging and more do as I say. Autocratic leadership modalities are common in some industries and are debatable on whether they are effective styles of leadership. To paint a picture of this style of leadership think North Korea.

Laissez-faire leader:

This is where the experienced employees hold the cards and have free reign in the decision making process. This is where they can explore ideas, concepts, and grow as individuals. There are guidelines they follow, but for the most part they can utilize their time to expand and explore.
