Goal setting

The purpose of goal setting is to vision what you want to achieve for your future, and how it will play out. This is done by creating smart goals quarterly(weekly), monthly, semi-annually, and annually. These goals should paint a picture of the 5 W's. What do you want to achieve? who will it involve?, where will it bring you?, when will it happen? why did you chose this route?. How will you manage or track you progress.

The answer to these questions can be a simple introduction of SMART goals. SMART goals allow you to organize your thoughts, time line, specificity of goals, ad make them manageable.

Specific: what are your goals?, don't be afraid to go into detail and really set goals that pertain to you.

Measurable: How will you measure your goals?

Attainable: are they easily attainable? don't be afraid to set them in a place that will make you stretch for them. but remember not to stretch to much, too fast to overwhelm yourself.

Realistic: Set realistic goals to start off, this way you can achieve them leading towards your larger goals.

Time: How long will this take?, set your goals with weekly mini goals catered towards a larger picture. Example: complete your weekly assignment in order to pass your semester if you are a student.

Once you have made a SMART goal make sure to also set a reward system for yourself. This seems basic and simplistic bu the reality of it is to have something you can enjoy for your hard work. Example: fitness goals for weight loss, a reward could be enjoying your favorite beverage on a patio, or a frozen treat on a hot summer day. They don't have to be huge rewards that cost tons of money. Just something that makes you happy while you are pursuing your goals.

Make sure these goals have both long-term and short-term visions for your future that will make you work hard but not burn you out. include a reward for your hard work, and enjoy the time you spend working towards your future.

Remember to always,

Explore, play, and enjoy the day.
